The 2021 Escape comes with a 14.8-gallon fuel tank when equipped with the 1.5L engine and front-wheel drive drivetrain. The size of the 2021 Ford Escape’s fuel tank can differ based on the engine buyers want and whether the all-wheel drive or full-wheel drive drivetrain are chosen. Each model of the 2021 Escape that uses all-wheel drive has the 15.7-gallon fuel tank capacity. The 2.5-liter Hybrid comes with a 14.3-gallon tank and the 2.5-liter Plug-In Hybrid has an 11.2-gallon tank.
The 2021 Escape has a maximum range of over 440 miles in its standard configuration. Its standard model returns 28mpg cruising through the city and 34 miles per gallon for driving around the highway, averaging the two results in an EPA-estimated 30 miles per gallon to take on day-to-day. Even though the Plug-In Hybrid Escape numbers have yet to be released, the Hybrid trim level of the 2021 Escape has the best fuel efficiency numbers with 44 miles per gallon in the city and 37mpg riding on the highway.
The 2021 Escape has a 1.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine boasting 181 hp that is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission to encounter different terrains. As mentioned earlier, many of the different models of the Escape have their own unique engines. That standard 1.5-liter engine isn’t the only gas-powered engine, a 250 horsepower producing 2.0-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost is also available for buyers to equip. Each Ford Escape Hybrid model equips a 2.5-liter Hybrid 4-cylinder engine that produces 165 horsepower, while the Plug-In Hybrid uses its own 2.5L engine.
